Leaving You Behind

Dear Walker,

I'd like to tell you that I greatly appreciate the assistance you've given me over the last couple months since my hip replacement surgery.  You didn't only accompany me everywhere I went, but you were a friend to lean on as well.  While you've been "off-duty" in the house for the last few weeks, you've still been with me when I do my daily half-mile of laps up and down the long driveway.  You've helped me deal with the pain in my leg muscles while they try to recover the memory of what they're supposed to be doing when I walk.  A couple days ago, I did some laps with you, then left you to watch while I did the final lap on my own.  Today we did the first lap together, and then I did the next four laps without you.  I think, tomorrow, I'll be leaving you behind in the house.

Thanks again,
Jean
