Saturday's Source - Leap of Faith

This digital image is the result of my playing around in Photoshop. I used two different sources for this picture.


The first source is my photograph of an incredible metal sculpture. These "flying fish" are located at the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores. To quote from their literature: "A spectacular sculpted metal school of spadefish sits in the center of a pool surrounded by tiles printed with the names of thousands of donors who have contributed to the aquarium.... The sculpture is by David Turner, who lives and works on the Eastern Shore of Maryland."

The top spadefish took a leap of faith and landed in my digital image.

The second source is "Blue Lagoon," one of my mixed media pieces. The background is silk that I handpainted, and the foreground is embellished with velvet and trims. The piece was quilted, and then glued to a canvas. The outer border of the canvas is painted. I cropped a detail from this picture,

added lens flare (to make the imitation sun), and used the watercolor and poster edges filters. The two Photoshop layers were merged to give the final image.
