Window Magic

I often take walks at our local community college campus.  (Carteret Community College, Morehead City, NC).  Many times I've seen interesting reflections in the windows of the large buildings.  Probably the most unusual were in the windows of the Martec building.  The images I see depend on where I'm standing when I take my photographs.

From this angle, you can see what the reflected building - Wayne West - actually looks like.

Two more angles - this one, and the one below.

And here's a cropped and Photoshopped version:

I think it would be fun to paint something like this!  Or maybe a mixed media collage....

The Quilt that Went to New Zealand

This was one of my quilts that was for sale at the AAQI fundraiser in Houston this past fall.  It happened that when it sold, someone took a photo of the buyer, labeled the picture "Pat from New Zealand," and posted it on their website.  It was a thrill for me to see what had happened to one of my quilts!

Here's a better look at "Old Sailor."  This quilt was inspired by a photograph I'd taken off the Portuguese coast.  I had written about it here, if you want to see the photo.

I think I'd mentioned that I'd recently sent in three other mini-quilts to the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative.  This one is "Rice Moon" and is a mini-version of the original quilt, also called "Rice Moon."  Honestly - try and come up with new names all the time!

This second one is "Two Toucans."  Ditto for the name of the original, larger art quilt.

This third mini-quilt is called "Fairies" and the original art quilt was called "Dance of the Fairies."  A shorter name for a smaller quilt....  The three quilts arrived at their destination, and are now waiting for their photos to be taken before they're listed for sale on the AAQI site.  In case you wonder how I "shrunk" my quilts - I printed images of the original quilts onto fabric, using my inkjet printer.  Then I made these smaller quilts - 8-1/2" x 11" - using the printed fabrics.

Lamp Posts

This picture was taken at the Boardwalk at Atlantic Beach, North Carolina.  I Photoshopped the image to give it this eerie color.

This is the image before the "special treatment."  Can you see what drew me to this shot in the first place??  Every lamp post was topped with its own gull!

Standard equipment??  One wonders....

AAQI Update

The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative holds a quilt auction from the 1st to the 10th of each month.  This month two of my art quilts are in the auction.  Red Sky At Night is a larger quilt, 20"x27" - most of the quilts are a maximum of 9"x12".  My other quilt in the auction is Wild Daisies.  A third quilt of mine, Lorn Lake, is in the AAQI's "Quilts for Sale" section and is listed for $75.  Back to the auction - there are only a couple days left!  As of this morning, Red Sky At Night was at $210 and Wild Daisies at $55.  And I have three more mini-quilts ready to go in the mail tomorrow.
